The Future Begins Today Bay Area <br />2010 <br />Summary of conference or meeting <br />Redwood City is a member of ABAG. The Spring Conference focused upon developing a Sustainable Bay <br />Area with a primer on SB375. Michael Woo, Dean of The College of Environmental Design, CA Poly <br />Pomona presented the keynote speech. The Video: A Primer on SB375 and Developing a Sustainable Bay <br />Area was followed by a panel discussion on SB375 opportunities and concerns. Participants were <br />Supervisors Jim Spering of Solano County and MTC Commissioner and Ken Yeager, Santa Clara, CA Air <br />Resources Board, Councilmember Ash Kaira, Gity of San Jose, BAAQMD Board Member, and Vice Mayor <br />Jean Quan City of Oakland, ABAG Executive Board. <br />Strategies for Sustainability were discussed and the audience had the opportunity to discuss strategies to <br />reduce greenouse gas emissions and see audience responses with electronic voting. <br />The resource mater7als provided will be shared with the City Manager and appropriate staff. Materials <br />included Understanding SB375: Public Participation Requirements from the Institute for Local Government <br />and Land Use, Climate Change and Public Health Issue Brief from the American Lung Association and One <br />Bay Area document a Sustainable Communities Strategy. <br />Signature of Council Member Date 5-3-2010 <br />The Administrative Code requires reports of conferences or meetings for which a council member requests per diem ar expense reimbursement. <br />Reports must be submitted to the City Clerk of no later than the Wednesday of the week before the next City Council meeting. Reports must be <br />submitted before the City of Redwood City will pay per diem or reimbursement for the conference or the meeting.
