6.1 C <br />rage ~ <br />r°- ~-r- ^ rti ~- <br />To the Honorable 1Vlayor and City Council!, <br />From the Cit Mana er! <br />May 24, 2010 <br />SUBJECT <br />Purchase of Two Utility Trucks <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve by Motion the purchase of two Utility Trucks from Hansel Ford of Santa Rosa, <br />CA in the amount of $135,215.92. <br />The City Clerk advertised the bid invitation with copies of the bid being mailed to four <br />local dealerships. The bids received were opened by the City Clerk on April 14, 2010, <br />and summarized as follows: <br />Bidder Bid Amount <br />Hansel Ford $135,215.92 <br />San Francisco Ford $135,368.87 <br />Serramonte Ford $135,864.53 <br />Towne Ford $136,055.00 <br />Recommended Bidder: Hansel Ford of Santa Rosa, CA <br />Substantiation: Staff from Equipment Services Section contacted several government agencies who <br />have purchased vehicles from Hansel Ford and found that they have been a very responsible bidder. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The two replacement vehicles have met and exceeded their useful lifecycle and it would <br />not be economically viable to invest in the continued use and repair of these vehicles if <br />they were to experience a major breakdown due to their age and condition. The <br />alternative of not approving the purchase of these trucks would impact the operational <br />requirement of the Water Division and the Wastewater Management Services <br />Maintenance Division since these vehicles are used daily for field assignments. <br />Prior to writing specifications for these vehicles, staff researched into the possibility of <br />replacing these vehicles with hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles.
