6.2B <br />Page 1 <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />May 24, 2010 <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance -Main Library Renovations and HVAC Replacement Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the Main Library Renovations and HVAC Replacement Project and <br />authorize the release of bonds and retention according to city procedures. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 24, 2009, Council awarded the construction contract for the Main Library <br />Renovation and HVAC Replacement Project to Rodan Builders Inc. of Burlingame. This <br />project renovated and enlarged the Project Read Area, added three study rooms, <br />enlarged the computer lab, and remodeled an area to create a new teen center. In <br />addition, four existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units (HVAC) were <br />replaced. <br />The project was successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications. The final contract amount is $667,840.84. Two (2) change orders <br />totaling $32,840.84 were issued which represents 5.17% of the original award amount <br />of $635, 000.00. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The contractor has fulfilled his contractual obligations to the city. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Sufficient funding for this construction contract was previously appropriated as Capitai <br />Projects Fund -Main Library 2006 Renovation and Roof and HVAC Program. <br />B ian Lee, PE, CFM <br />Supervising Civil Engineer <br />YAK <br />Chu Chang, PE, LEED AP <br />Building, Infrastructure, and <br />Transportation Director <br />S.
