· ' 7/26/99 <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2170 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14.38 OF CHAPTER 14 OF THE <br /> CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO REMOVAL <br /> OF WEEDS <br /> <br /> THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Section 14.38 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 14.38. PROPERTY OWNERS DUTY TO REMOVE; DEFINITIONS: All <br /> weeds and all dirt, rubbish, and rank growths of any kind, on private property or in any <br /> street or alley or public right-of-way in the City, shall constitute a public nuisance. <br /> <br /> Every property owner, lessee or occupant of buildings, grounds or lots, shall destroy or <br /> remove weeds, dirt, rubbish, and/or rank growths from the property, buildings, grounds <br /> or lots, and from the half of the street, alley or public right-of-way on which the property <br /> abuts, in accordance with the procedures prescribed in this Article. <br /> <br /> For the purposes of this Article, the following definitions shall apply: <br /> <br /> WEEDS: Includes any of the following: <br /> <br /> A. Weeds which bear seeds of a downy or wingy nature. <br /> <br /> B. Any brush or weeds which attain such large growth as to become, when dry, a fire <br /> menace to adjacent improved property. <br /> <br /> C. Weeds which are otherwise noxious or dangerous. <br /> <br /> D. Poison oak and poison ivy when the conditions of growth are such as to constitute a <br /> menace to the public health. <br /> <br /> E. Dry grass, stubble, brush, litter, or other flammable material, which endangers the <br /> public safety by creating a fire hazard. <br /> <br /> F. Weeds, brush, dry grass, stubble or non-ornamental plant, which are more than <br /> eight (8) inches in height. <br /> <br /> RUBBISH: Includes all bottles, crockery, tin cans, metal vessels, shells, plaster, tires, <br /> rags, papers, boxes, packing material, shavings, straw and other similar materials. <br /> <br /> Ord-081 <br /> f/sh/sh/RC/Council <br /> FXS:fs <br /> 06/21/99 <br /> <br /> <br />
