Section 12.16. Section 1003.2.10 added. , Section 1003.2.10 is hereby added to the Fire C~de to read as follows: Section 1003.2.10. Automatic Sprinkler Systems. Notwithstanding any contrary provisions of this Code or the provisions of any other Code of the City, approved automatic sprinkler systems shall be installed in the following buildings or structures: (a) New Buildings: (i) All new Group R, Division 3 occupancy dwellings and structures; (ii) all other new buildings or structures with a total floor area of three thousand (3,000) square feet or more. (b) Change in occupancy group: When there is a change in occupancy group or use from a less hazardous to a more hazardous occupancy group or use. In the event standards or requirements of this section are less restrictive than the standards or requirements of any other provisions of the Redwood City Code, as amended, the more restrictive standards shall govern. Section 12.17. Section 1003.3.1 amended. Section 1003.3.1 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1003.3.1. Where required. All valves controlling the water supply for automatic sprinkler systems and water-flow switches on all sprinkler systems shall be electrically monitored when there are twenty (20) or more sprinkler heads. Valve monitoring and water-flow alarm and trouble signals shall be distinctly different and shall be automatically transmitted to an approved central station as defined by national standards. Exceptions: 1. Underground key or hub valves in roadway boxes provided by the municipality or public utility need not be momtored. 2. An alarm automatically transmitted to an approved central station is not required for Group R, Division 30ccupancies~ provided with a local water- flow alarm. Section 12.18. Section 1001.5.3.2 added.
