Jazz on Main was a new event in 09/10 and attracted 2,200 people <br />over 8 weeks and brought almost $40,000 in revenue to the local <br />resta u rants. <br />f. Four cultural concerts featured performances from Argentina (Spanish <br />guitar), India (Bollyrock), and Spain (Basque Accordina) as well as the <br />Peninsula Symphony. <br />g. A $30,500 grant from Target funded three family Sunday events. <br />h. Horizontal banners were also designed and fabricated for special <br />events, including the Pet Parade, Immigrant's Festival, Latino Film <br />Festival and Target events, among others. <br /> <br />2. Grand Boulevard Initiative (GBI) <br />Involvement in the regional GBI supported the corridor planning of the <br />General Plan update process and included: <br />a. Staff support to the GBI Working Committee, facilitating City input <br />regarding Caltrans design, the Economic and Housing Opportunities <br />Assessment (ECHO) grant application, the Multimodal Transportation <br />Plan and the preparation of the GBI Progress Report. <br />b. Completed bid process and began construction of first project for EI <br />Camino Real (ECR) between Broadway and Brewster using GBI <br />design concepts. Total cost for this project was $1,800,000. This <br />project received federal funding through the American Recovery and <br />Reinvestment Act (ARRA), as well as Congestion Management and Air <br />Quality Board (CMAQ) funding. Additionally, there were funds from the <br />RDA and the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). <br /> <br />3. Downtown Precise Plan <br />A lawsuit and court ruling reversed the implementation of the DPP <br />approved in 2007. This past year was spent in amending the Plan to <br />respond to the ruling. A new DPP document has been prepared, as well <br />as a new master programmatic Environmental Impact Report (EI R) <br />currently underway. Both will go through public hearings in the first <br />quarter of FY 10/11 and approval is anticipated by the end of the second <br />quarter. <br /> <br />However, the overall vision of the DPP has not been changed <br />significantly, and staff was able to move forward on many action items as <br />described below. In addition to active particip"ation in the regional efforts <br />to transform ECR into a Ilgrand boulevard", activities included: <br />a. Ongoing dialogue with SamTrans staff related to train station area <br />planning, high speed rail, grade crossings and the integration of the <br />train station and tracks into the middle of downtown to create a <br />seamless connection between Broadway and Sequoia Station/ECR. <br />b. Expanding parking options through shared parking agreements with <br />new tenants and remodels. <br /> <br />6 <br />
