07/12/2010 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15035 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />ENACTING A POLICY REGARDING THE USE OF COMPUTER <br />HARDWARE DURING CITY COUNCIL, BOARDS, <br />COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES MEETINGS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to utilize computer hardware and <br />software to receive and store agenda materials for the City Council meetings; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Council, as well as City Boards, Commissions, and <br />Committees is required to make decisions on a variety of matters impacting the <br />City and its citizens, including matters for which public hearings are held; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council wishes to adopt a policy that would prohibit the <br />use of the hardware in certain specified situations; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. During City Council meetings noticed and open to the public pursuant <br />to the Brown Act, the use of computer hardware, including cell phones, Ipads, <br />notebooks, netbooks, desktop computers, and other devices, by Council <br />members to access the internet /intranet or receive /send email or text messages <br />is not permitted. This prohibition shall also apply to City Board, Commission, and <br />Committee members during their respective meetings. This prohibition shall not <br />apply to City Council subcommittees.
