CONTACT iNFORMATION

Agency Name: City of Redwood City
Program Contact: Richard Haygood, Traffic Engineer (650) 780-7362

Address: City of Redwood City
P.O. Box 391
Redwood City, CA 94064

Fax: (650) 780-7309

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Redwood Shores Residential Taxi Shuttle Service Program, ("Shores
Shuffle"), is an on-demand, shared ride taxi shuttle service designed to.
encourage residents of the Redwood Shores community to use the Caltrain
commuter rail system as their regular commute mode by providing convenient,
no cost transportation to the San Carlos Caltrain Station during peak AM
commute hours and back home again in the PM commute hours. The cost of
this service is entirely paid by the City and is free to the passengers.

Residents who register for the program are issued a personal ID number, Which
they use when they call the taxi vendor to reserve a ride for the days they wish to
use the service. The taxi picks up the resident(s) at a designated stop location
within one of the four-minute time windows available in the morning, as
requested; no reservation is required for the afternoon return trip, as taxis are on
call at the station from 3:30 P.M. to 7:15 P.M. See Attachment - 'q'he Shores
Shuttle" flier for additional information including Time Window Chart, Lists of
Stops, and Taxi Stop Zone Map.

Amber Technologies and Consulting designed, marketed, and implemented the ·
program and has been managing the program since the outset, including
registration of residents, monitoring the taxi vendor operation to assure that
timely, quality service is provided, verifying taxi vendor invoices, providing
ridership data, and preparing reports to staff.

The City has retained the services of Yellow Cab Company Peninsula, inc. to
provide taxi rides to the qualified residents. The taxi company keeps track of all
rides, the times riders are picked up, and pick-up location and submits a monthly
billing to the City based on a cost of five dollars ($5.00) per rider, with a two-
person minimum cost ($10.00).
