Legislation (information only) - This sub - section involves possible <br />discussion of City Position on Proposed Legislation Described in the League of <br />California Cities Priority Focus Bulletin No. 1 -2003 and Bulletin No. 2 -2003. Council <br />may direct staff to act on positions taken by Council. (Copies of League of California <br />Cities Priority Focus available in City Clerk's Department). <br />11. B. Support for restoration of the Vehicle License Fee (VLF) to its full level, <br />and opposition to the Governor's proposal to remove the VLF 'backfill' funds <br />from local governments; <br />Mayor Claire explained the background on the VLF. <br />Council Member Hartnett stated that the Board of Directors of the Chamber of <br />Commerce endorses this resolution by way of a vote at the past Board meeting. He <br />further stated that the business community and City community is strongly supportive <br />of the resolution. <br />M/S Hartnett/Pierce RESOLUTION 14496 URGING THE CALIFORNIA <br />LEGISLATURE TO REJECT THE GOVERNOR'S PROPOSED SHIFT OF LOCAL VLF <br />REVENUES AND TO HONOR THE 1998 COMMITMENT TO RESTORE THE VLF; <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote with Council Member Jordan <br />absent. <br />11.C. Council Member Howard — stated that the Redwood City International is a <br />sister city organization. One of the city's sister cities is Zhuhai, China and it happens <br />that the Peking Acrobats will be performing at the Fox Theatre on February 1.
