3.10-1 <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />February 10, 2003 <br />Subject <br />Agreement for Professional Consultant Engineering and Design Services for the Final <br />Design of the 5th Avenue Storm Drainage Pump Station <br />Recommendation <br />Approve an agreement with BKF Engineers of Redwood City, California, for providing <br />consultant services for the Final Design of the 5th Avenue Storm Drainage Pump <br />Station, in an amount not to exceed $265,867. <br />Background <br />The first phase of the Friendly Acres Area Flooding Program (installation of a 66" <br />collection pipe in 5th Avenue, from Broadway to Rolison Road) was completed in March, <br />2001. <br />The second phase of the Project (installation of a 66" collection pipe under Hwy 101, <br />from Rolison Road to the 5 Avenue Pump Station, located at the Harbor Village Mobile <br />Home Park) was completed in March 2002. <br />This project is the third phase of the multi - phased Flood Control Program. This phase <br />of the Project consists of the construction of a new storm drainage pump station to <br />replace the existing, under capacity, and out -dated pump station, located at the Harbor <br />Village Mobile Home Park. The Preliminary Design and Feasibility Study were <br />completed in September 2002, and the construction is scheduled to begin in summer <br />2004. <br />Request for Proposal's (RFP's) were sent out to four consulting firms. After review of <br />the submitted RFPs, the proposal from BKF Engineers in the amount of $265,867 was <br />selected, and is considered a reasonable fee for the required engineering services. <br />A complete copy of the agreement is available for review in the City Clerk's office. <br />Alternative <br />Council can elect to not enter into the agreement with BKF Engineers, and thus delay <br />the Flood Protection Program in the Friendly Acres Area. <br />
