4.zkI <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />February 10, 2003 <br />Subject <br />Requests for short-term parking zones at 820 Woodside Road and 1503 Woodside <br />Road, and for a no stopping zone at 1745 El Camino Real <br />Recommendation <br />Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing installation of two short-term parking <br />(green curb 20- minute) zones at 820 Woodside Road and at 1503 Woodside Road, <br />and a no stopping (red curb) zone at 1745 El Camino Real. <br />Background <br />Business owners at 820 Woodside Road and 1503 Woodside Road have requested <br />that the curb parking spaces fronting their establishments be designated and marked as <br />short-term (20 minute) time limit parking. The business owner at 1745 El Camino Real <br />has requested that the curb parking spaces fronting a portion of that establishment be <br />designated and marked as a no stopping zone. Woodside Road and El Camino Real <br />are State highways under jurisdiction of the California Department of Transportation <br />( Caltrans). Pursuant to the Vehicle Code, Caltrans procedures for granting changes in <br />parking control, such as those requested, require a resolution from the local jurisdiction <br />supporting the proposed changes. <br />Discussion <br />The property at 820 Woodside Road was recently developed as a new Starbucks <br />Coffee shop. The request to mark two parking stalls for 20- minute parking on the <br />property's Woodside Road curb frontage was made by the property owner, Duke <br />Rohlen of Olive Hill Development. <br />The property at 1503 Woodside Road is a florist shop. The request for one 20- minute <br />stall on the curb frontage was made by the proprietor, Elena Mariti of Bella Floral Art. <br />The property at 1745 El Camino Real is the recently opened Beverages & More store. <br />The request to prohibit curb parking on El Camino Real fronting the store structure, <br />between Chestnut Street and the driveway entering the store's parking lot, was <br />submitted by the business owner, Steve McLaren, Senior Vice- President of Beverages <br />& more, after consultation with the City's Community Development Services <br />Department and Architectural Review Committee.
