<br />'........ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />DES:yc:10/2/70 <br />ORiGjN_AL <br /> <br />OCT 5 '70 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br />---------- <br /> <br />N O. ~J'?/ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE <br />TRUSTEES OF THE SAN MATEO JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Trustees of the San Mateo Junior College <br /> <br />District have applied for a grant by the U. S. Commissioner of <br /> <br />Education pursuant to Title I, Part C, of the Economic Opportunity <br /> <br />Act of 1964, Public Law 88-452, 78 Stat. 573, as amended, to <br /> <br />stimulate and promote the part-time employment of students, <br /> <br />particularly students from low-income families, who are in need <br /> <br />of earnings from such employment to pursue courses of study at <br /> <br />institutions of higher education; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Trustees of the San Mateo Junior College <br /> <br />District and the City of Redwood City desire that certain college <br /> <br />students engage in work for the City as a public organization <br /> <br />under the Work-Study Program authorized by the aforesaid Economic <br /> <br />Opportunity Act; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is willing to utilize the <br /> <br />services of such students; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Council an agreement <br /> <br />by and between the City of Redwood City and the Trustees of the <br /> <br />San Mateo Junior College District relating to the aforesaid <br /> <br />Work-Study Program, and it is the intention and desire of this <br /> <br />Council to approve said agreement and authorize its execution <br /> <br />on behalf of the City; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />That certain agreement entitled "Agreement - Cooperative <br /> <br />Education Program," (form dated 10/2/70) by and between the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City and the Trustees of the San Mateo Junior <br />
