<br />'.f <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CGM:yc:7/20/70 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />JUl 20 70 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br />---------- <br /> <br />N O. ~J'~J <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />JOINT EXERCISE OF POWERS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES <br />OF BURLINGAME, DALY CITY, REDWOOD CITY, SAN BRUNO, <br />AND SAN MATEO, AND THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, FOR THE <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF A COOPERATIVE LIBRARY SYSTEM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has <br /> <br />declared that it is in the interest of the people and of the <br /> <br />State of California to aid and encourage the development of free <br /> <br />public libraries throughout the State by grants to public library,"; <br /> <br />systems for the purpose of assisting public libraries in estab- <br /> <br />lishing, improving, and extending library services and encouraging <br /> <br />said libraries to establish library systems in areas which such <br /> <br />cooperation would facilitate improved library services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City wishes to participate in <br /> <br />the formation of a cooperative public library system in San Mateo <br /> <br />County with the cities of Burlingame, Daly City, San Bruno, and <br /> <br />San Mateo, and the County of San Mateo; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of California will contribute funds to <br /> <br />the fonmation of a cooperative public library system in San Mateo <br /> <br />County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a joint exercise of powers agreement has been <br /> <br />presented to this Council between the cities of Burlingame, <br /> <br />Daly City, Redwood City, San Bruno, and San Mateo, and the County <br /> <br />of San Mateo, for the formation of said cooperative public library <br /> <br />system in San Mateo County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the intention and desire of this Council to <br /> <br />approve said joint powers agreement and authorize its executioni <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br />
