I ~~ L <br />...i,,\..~_i ~ <br /> <br />cWI 0 '70 <br /> <br />REE.OLUT.fON <br /> <br />N O. ~(78 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />AGREEMENT FOR JOINT EXERCISE OF POWERS BY PENINSULA <br />WATER AGENCY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Council an agree- <br /> <br />ment by and between the County of San Mateo and those other <br /> <br />political subdivisions, municipal corporations, and other public <br /> <br />corporations of the State of California who have or may become <br /> <br />signatories thereto for the establishment of a joint powers <br /> <br />agency designated the peninsula Water Agency; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of said Agency is to provide for <br /> <br />investigation, study, negotiation and formulation of plans for <br /> <br />water sources and relating to charges for wholesale supplies of <br /> <br />water, and to facilitate joint representation in relation to <br /> <br />the solution of such matters; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Title 1, Division 5, Chapter 5, of the Government <br /> <br />Code of the State of California, comprising Sections 6500 through <br /> <br />6514 thereof, authorize the joint exercise, by two or more public <br /> <br />agencies, of any power common to them; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the, intention and desire of this Council to <br /> <br />provide for the participation of the City of Redwood City in said <br /> <br />joint exercise of powers as a member of the peninsula Water Agency <br /> <br />by approving said agreement and authorizing and directing its <br /> <br />execution for and on behalf of the city of Redwood City; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />That certain agreement entitled "Agreement for Joint Exercise <br /> <br />of Powers by peninsula Water Agency," by and between the County <br /> <br />of San Mateo and those political subdivisions of the State of <br /> <br />California who have or may become signatories thereto, a copy of <br /> <br />which is on file in the office of the City Clerk, to which copy <br /> <br />reference is hereby made for full particulars concerning the terms and <br />
