connections, below grade manhole buoyancy, allowable foundation uplift capacity, ground
improvement, if needed, static lateral earth pressures, dynamic lateral earth pressure,
coefficient of base friction, and permanent structure design groundwater level, soil corrosivity
to uncoated steel and reinforced concrete.

Submit a geotechnical report including a scaled alignment drawing with boring locations, geotechnical
data (boring logs} lab tests) and geotechnical design summary (conciusions and recommendations as
summarized above).

DeUverables:
· Draft geotechnical investigation report (three hardcopies and .pdf file)
· Final geotechnical investigation report (three hardcoples and .pdf file)

Subtask 3.3: Caltrans Permitting
RMC will initiate discussions with Caltrans on obtaining an encroachment permit for crossing if Highway
101. It is assumed that the crossing requirements are as defined in the Caltrans Encroachment Permit
Manual, particularly In Section 600 - Utilities Permits.

Deliverables:
· Summary memorandum of discussions with Caltrans Encroachment Permits staff, Including next
steps for the permit application process.

Subtask 3.4: Transition Structures Development
RMC will develop the configuration and sizing for the hydraulic transition structures needed to connect
the existing 4811 sewer to the propose Walnut Street interceptor replacement pipeline. The
configuration for the transition structures will include provisions for using one or both pipelines to
convey sewage.

Deliverables:
· Figures presenting the proposed configuration of the transition structures.

Subtask 3.5: Trenchless Construction Alternatives Evaluation
RMC will evaluate up to three alternative trenchless construction methods for the project. The
alternatives will include microtunneling, auger bore and jack} and open shield pipe jacking.
Considerations in developing the alternative method will include groundwater conditions, soU regime,
Installation tolerances, and cost and experience In similar conditions. The evaluation will culminate in a
recommended method for the basis of final design.

RMC will evaluate settlement risks for Highway 101 and existing utilities, including the force main,
recycled water pipeline, and parallel gravity sewer for each trench less alternative and alignment
evaluated. Recommend protective/mitigative, and instrumentation and monitoring measures.

1-

L

Subtask 3.6: Preliminary Design Technical Memorandum
RMC will develop a preliminary design of the preferred alignment, Including design criteria, layout and
configuration drawings, list of technical specifications, and a construction cost estimate. Other
recommendations related to the design and construction of the facility will be included as appropriate.
The intent of the preliminary deSign technical memorandum Is to serve as the basis for final design of
the project.
