i REG: yc:4 /5/61 -7 RE SOLUT ION NO. 3358 RESOLUTION URGING SUPPORT OF THE BAY REGION MARINE AFFAIRS CONFERENCE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1962 APPROPRIATIONS FOR NAVIGATIONAL PROJECTS BY THE ARMY ENGINEERS IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY REGION WHEREAS, the Bay Region Marine Affairs Conference has con- ducted an intensive study and review of Federal navigational projects and related harbor works in the thirteen county .San Francisco Bay Region; and WHEREAS, the Conference has approved, after study with the Sacramento and San Francisco District Army Engineers' staff, five investigation projects, five construction projects and fifteen maintenance projects vital to the regions economy and progress and representing a reasonable and efficient level of performance and operation by the Corps of Army Engineers; and WHEREAS, the heavy rate of growth and development of this region - -with special emphasis on population, industry and the increasing use of waterways and commercial ship traffic -- requires a consistent and imaginative improvement and expansion of navi- gable waters and harbors, as has been provided generally in the past by the Congress; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. That this body does hereby endorse and support the recommendations of the Bay Region Marine Affairs Conference for the appropriation by Congress of $11,233,000 in the coming fiscal year for the projects set out in the Conference's report. 2. That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Senators Kuchel and Engle, Congressman Younger, the House and Senate Civil Works Appropriations Subcommittee and the Bay Region Marine Af- fairs Conference, Marine Exchange, World Trade Center, San Francisco 11, California.
