GLASS FOR HIS ACHIEVEMENTS <br />IN TBE 1961 GOLDEN GLOVES COMPETITION <br />WHEREAS, hard punching K. W. "Bill" Glass, fighting for the <br />Redwood City Police Youth Club, came off the canvas in his final <br />bout to win the 132 pound Golden Gloves Championship in San <br />Francisco on March 25th; and <br />WHEREAS, K. W. Glass won both his preliminary Golden Gloves <br />bouts by knockouts; and <br />WHEREAS, K. W. Glass became the first Police Athletic League <br />boxer to win a Golden Gloves crown in San Francisco; and <br />WHEREAS, K. W. Glass displayed a high sense of sportsmanship <br />and fair play in his bouts; <br />NOW, THEREFORE <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That K. W. "Bill" Glass is hereby commended on his out- <br />standing achievements in the 1961 Golden Gloves competition and <br />on the sportsmanship he displayed in winning. <br />2. That K. W. Glass' handlers, Bill Carozza and S. Wallace <br />Duplessis, and the Police Youth Club's program director, Herb <br />Weiss, are hereby commended for their part in assisting K. W. <br />Glass to his victory. <br />3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a <br />copy of this resolution to the Redwood City Police Youth Club. <br />
