SUBJECT: APPROV AL OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REDWOOD <br />CTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011 <br /> <br />RCSD Goal: Ensure that all schools are places where children grow intellectually, <br />socially, physically and emotionally. <br /> <br />RECO~NDATION: <br /> <br />It is the Administration's recommendation that the School Board approve the <br />attached agreement between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City <br />School District as submitted. <br /> <br />PERTINENT FACTS: <br /> <br />The agreement is made between the Redwood City School District and the City of <br />Redwood City to provide Supplemental Extended Day Leaming programs at Fair <br />Oaks, Garfield, Hawes, Hoover, John Gill, Selby Lane and Taft Schools. The term <br />for this agreement is from July 1,2010 through June 30, 201l. <br /> <br />Currently, the Redwood City School District has nine Supplemental Extended Day <br />Learning programs operating at Taft, Hoover, Fair Oaks, Hawes, Selby Lane, John <br />Gill, Roosevelt, Kennedy and Garfield Schools. <br /> <br />The primary goal of the Supplemental Extended Day Learning programs is to <br />provide academic supports and enrichment opportunities to students who are <br />struggling in school on non-school days. Each program is designed to provide <br />students with alternative and non-traditional ways to learn and develop new <br />skills. Each program is unique and provides a variety of activities, which may <br />include: tutoring, homework help, academic enriclunent activities, literacy <br />support, projects, life skills activities, leadership opportunities, recreation and field <br />trips. <br />
