<br />Page q. 6132 <br />Page 29 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />REDWOOD CITY, CA <br /> <br />RCSD MEMORANDUM # <br /> <br />(2009-2010) <br /> <br />June 9, 2010 <br /> <br />TO: SCHOOL BOARD <br /> <br />FROM: JAN CHRISTENSEN, SUPERINTENDENT <br /> <br />SUBJECT: APPROV AL OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REDWOOD <br />CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011 <br /> <br />RCSD Goal: Ensure that all schools are places where children grow intellectually, <br />socially, physically and emotionally. <br /> <br />RECO:NtMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is the Administration's recommendation that the School Board approve the <br />attached agreement between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City <br />School District as submitted. <br /> <br />PERTINENT FACTS: <br /> <br />The agreement is made between the Redwood City School District and the City of <br />Redwood City to provide Extended Day Leaming programs at Fair Oaks, Garfield, <br />John Gill, Hawes, Hoover, Selby Lane and Taft Schools. The term for this <br />agreement is from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. <br /> <br />Current! y, the Redwood City School District has thirteen Extended Day Learning <br />programs operating at Adelante, Taft, Hoover, Fair Oaks, Hawes, Selby Lane, John <br />Gill, Roosevelt, Kennedy, McKinley, Henry Ford and Garfield Schools. <br /> <br />The primary goal of the Extended Day Learning programs is to provide academic <br />supports and enrichment opportunities to students who are struggling in school. <br />Each program is designed to provide students with alternative and non-traditional <br />ways to learn and develop new skills. Each program is unique and provides a <br />variety of activities, which may include: tutoring, homework help, academic <br />enrichment activities, literacy support, projects, life skills activities, leadership <br />opportunities, recreation and field trips. <br />
