7.A REP4RT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council from the Cit Clerk September 27, 2010 SUBJECT City Council appointments to the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. RECOMMENDATION Appoint �ve applicants to the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. Council action will be to vote for four seats that will expire May 31, 2014 and one unfilled seat that will expire on May 31 S�, 2012. This will be a voice vote. BACKGROUND There are four seats expiring in the PRCS Commission in 2010 and one seat opening due to a resignation. The recruitment period for these seats ran between July 16t" and August 2nd, 2010. The interviews were held on August 23�d, 2010. With Pina Truscelli's resignation on July 23rd 2010, we have five seats. One is to fill the unexpired term, so this seat is shorter in length, expiring on May 31 St, 2012. The ofiher four appointees wil( serve until May 31, 2014. Section 21-112 of the City Charter requires that "No person shall be appointed as a member of the Commission who is not at the time of his or her appointment, a resident and elector of the City of Redwood City. All members of the commission shall continuously and during their incumbencies be residents and electors of the City." This wording was added to the application so that applicants would affirm and confirm that they meet these conditions as they submitted applications for Council consideration.
