I

I attended the annual meeting of League of California Cities in San Diego as Redwood City's voting
delegate.
This meeting is especially helpful in bringing training resources to cities and providing Redwood City the
opportunity to vote on statewide League policy issues. This year's most valuable sessions were"Branding
Your City" and "How to Make your City Famous". Speakers from 3 cities gave detailed descriptions of the
efforts they had undertaken to change their city's image and the results that had been achieved.
Specifically, Suisun has a waterfront and has done substantial work to develop their niche market.
Through their efforts they have begun to create a following who goes to Suisun for activities and is
changing the image of their community.
I'll write up my notes and share them with staff with the presentations from the League website.
.
September 23, 2010
The Administrative Code requires reports of conferences or meetings for which a council member requests per diem or
expense reimbursement.
