7.A
Page 88
to the proposed streetcar lines, to consider potential streetcar-related impacts (both beneficial and
negative). Some recent correspondence received by the City about the New General Plan have asked for
more information about the Seaport line relative to the Saltworks Development proposal that is proposed to
be located near Seaport Boulevard. The preceding explanations, along with the following additional
comments, are provided for additional clarification. Implementation of the Saltworks Development proposal
is not part of the New General Plan project. As such, the Saltworks project does not have a relationship to
the streetcar line in the New General Plan. The proposed streetcar concept is in no way intended to
facilitate or hinder the Saltworks Development proposal or its process. The Seaport streetcar line is intended
to facilitate Redwood City's continued innovation in employment centers and industrial areas located along
the corridor and considered as part of the New General Plan process. The Seaport line is also intended to
support local connections to Downtown Redwood City, an important initiative in the New General Plan, and
furthermore facilitate connections to the ferry terminal, providing the City with a new and important
connection to the region.
