REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City <br />March 10, 2003 <br />Subject <br />Surplus Property <br />Recommendation <br />By resolution declare one" 1984 Teco" aerial lift truck surplus and authorize its sale to the <br />highest responsible bidder at public auction or upon sealed bids pursuant to section 3.5 <br />(c) of the City Charter. <br />Background <br />The Public Works Services Department, in coordination with the Finance Department, acts <br />as the centralized collection and storage point for City owned property, either wom out <br />and /or surplus from various City departments. <br />Government Code Section 37351 and Section 3 .5 of the Charter of the City of Redwood <br />City as amended, permits the sale of any City property having an appraised value of five <br />thousand dollars or more through public notice or public bid. <br />Attached hereto is Exhibit "A" describing the surplus aerial lift truck. This truck has been <br />appraised at a value of more than $5,000 by Pacific Utility Equipment Company. Pacific <br />Utility Equipment Company is one of the largest aerial truck dealerships on the West <br />Coast. This piece of surplus property has exceeded its useful life. <br />Alternative <br />Continue collecting and storing the City's surplus property, however this property is taking <br />up valuable space. The longer the vehicles are stored outdoors the less resale value they <br />will have. <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The revenue from this surplus property will be returned to the Equipment Replacement <br />Fund, consistent with fund management practices. <br />Lar arwacz Peter Ingram <br />Pubric Works Superintendent Public Works S ices Director <br />Attachments: 1.Exhibit "A" 2.
