(o. 2 C-
ORDINANCE NO.
ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLES II AND III OF CHAPTER I
OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING FOR
ADMINISTRATIVE CODE ENFORCEMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Findings
A. Enforcement of the Municipal Code is vital to the protection of the public's
health, safety and quality of life.
B. The City Council of the City of Redwood City recognizes that successful
code enforcement starts with the drafting of precise regulations that can be effectively
applied in administrative enforcement hearings and judicial proceedings.
C. A comprehensive code enforcement system that uses a combination of
judicial and administrative remedies is critical to gain compliance with code regulations.
D. The public interest requires the availability of administrative methods for
enforcement of the requirements of this code as an alternative to either criminal or civil
proceedings within the court system.
E. Administrative citations and administrative compliance hearing processes
afford relatively informal, inexpensive, expeditious, and appropriate procedures for
dispute resolutions involving matters of local concern.
F. The public interest requires the capability to impose administrative
penalties authorized under California Government Code section 53069.4 to supplement
existing enforcement tools.
F:Atty/Ord /Ord.157.1
020603 1
