6,1 C -j
April 7, 2003
Subject
Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Professional Services (the "Agreement") with
Winges Architects for the Public Works Services Warehouse Offices Project.
Recommendation
Approve and authorize execution of Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Winges
Architects for revising the Construction Documents to incorporate requirements for
maximizing the flexibility of the warehouse spaces, and revising the HVAC design to
make them more efficient, in an amount not to exceed $12,395.
Background
On August 5, 2002, the City contracted with Winges Architects to provide Professional
Services for design construction documents for improvements to offices and
conference rooms in the Public Works Services administration / warehouse building, in
the amount of $64,000.
During the design it was determined that in order to maximize the flexibility of the
building spaces, the existing electrical and mechanical systems needed to be
upgraded. In addition, it was agreed that instead of providing a newer, larger roof -
mounted HVAC unit, smaller, more efficient individual package HVAC units would
better serve each office, and would also reduce the overall cost of construction.
Alternative
Council can elect to not approve Amendment No. 1, which would not authorize the
consultant to revise the design. Doing the redesign now will save money in the long
term.
Fiscal Impacts
Funds in the amount of $12,395.00 are available in the 2002/2003 Capital Improvement
Program budget for the proposed Public Works Services' Warehouse Office Project.
:4 Brian Lee race Liedstrand erett
Senior Civil Engineer /Community Devel pment Services Director City Manager
BL:ss
S /library/reports/brian/Amendment No. 1— Winges
