8.13. Code Enforcement Update (information only) — Public Communications <br />Manager Smith introduced and presented the educational video explaining that it is <br />being broadcast through Peninsula T.V. on cable Channel 26. <br />8.C. Council Member Ruskin — referred to an article in the Redwood City Daily News <br />that stated thousands of Bay Area television viewers may lose access to local station <br />KCSM, Channel 60, if a cable company gets its way. The cable company is Comcast <br />of which Redwood City is negotiating a contract along with other cities in the area. <br />Council Member Ruskin asked to go on record as wanting to retain this second public <br />television station and asked that the City influence this in a positive way. <br />8.D. Council Member Pierce — stated that a few weeks ago, she and Mayor Claire <br />attended a conference on providing sufficient water in California and that it is truly a <br />"California" issue. She further stated that the Local Government Commission forum <br />brought people from throughout the State to learn about what other cities, counties <br />and water agencies are doing. There were presentations on conservation, recycling, <br />funding, water management and controlling urban runoff, which are all common issues <br />in California. The emphasis was on sustainability, regional shed management and <br />living within the water resources available. <br />8.E. Council Member Jordan — stated that Michael Spence had just arrived and <br />asked that he be able to speak on his issue at this time. Council consensus was to <br />provide the opportunity for Mr. Spence to speak under Oral Communications at this <br />point in the agenda. <br />9. ADJOURNMENT — 7:46 p.m. <br />M/S Hartnett/Ruskin to adjourn until the next City Council meeting of April 14, 2003 in <br />memory of Jack Drago, former Mayor of South San Francisco who passed away. He <br />was a Council Member for 11 years after serving as a firefighter and Fire Chief.
