8A-Z <br />However, we understand that some members of the public are concerned with that <br />approach and have urged that the period for written comments run until the June 9 date of <br />the Study Session. Staff therefore recommends that the comment period be extended, but <br />requests the Council to urge everyone to submit their comments as soon as possible (so <br />that the City staff and Council members will be able to give them due consideration before <br />the June 9 Study Session), rather than holding them until the formal end of the comment <br />period. <br />The added benefit of holding the Study Session is to provide the public and the staff an <br />additional opportunity to make presentations and to add comments to the cumulative public <br />record on which the City Council will rely to make its ultimate policy decisions on the <br />proposed project. In fact, the City Council will take no formal action on the Mitigated <br />Negative Declaration or the Addendum until well after the June 9"' Study Session. <br />Currently the schedule calls for a Council decision on the project at their meeting on July <br />28, 2003. <br />Alternatives <br />The alternatives to receiving and circulating the MND Addendum are: <br />1. Delete the recommended comment period and the Study Session <br />2.
