I DRAFT URBAN WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />Figure 1.1 Water Use by Customer Class, 2000 <br />1.1.3 Base Water Use Projections <br />In 2002, the City Council commissioned a detailed 20 -year water use forecast as <br />presented in Appendix B. The water use forecasts for each customer class are based on <br />forecasts of key data drivers. The data drivers are number of housing units for the _ <br />residential classes, number of employees for the commercial class, and population for the <br />other classes. These data drivers are multiplied by water use coefficients, based on <br />historical water use correlations, to obtain the water use forecasts. <br />As shown in Table 1.2, total base water use is expected to increase from 13,170 AFY in <br />2000 to 15,520 AFY in 2020. This is a 17.8% increase over the 20 -year period that <br />translates into an annual average 0.82 percent increase. <br />
