7.A <br /> REPORT ' <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council � <br /> from the Actin Cit Clerk ' <br /> November 8, 2010 I ! <br /> SUBJECT <br /> City Council appointments to the Library Board. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Appoint three applicants to the Library Board. Council action will be to vote for three <br /> seats that will expire June 30 2014. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> There is one seat expiring in the Library Board in 2010, and finro additional seats that <br /> were added as a result of a Charter Amendment in November 2009. <br /> The recruitment period for these seats ran between August 31 and October 4� 2010. <br /> The interviews were held on October 25 <br /> Section 18 of the City Charter states "There shall be a Library Board consisting of seven <br /> members to be appointed by the City Council. (As amended November 3, 2009 and <br /> filed by the Secretary of State February 9, 2010)." This wording was added to the <br /> application so that applicants would affirm and confirm that they meet these conditions <br /> as they submitted applications for Council consideration. <br /> Section 18 of the City Charter requires that "All members of such Board shall at the time <br /> of their appointments and continuously during their incumbencies be residents and <br /> electors of the City." <br /> Applications received for the Library Board to fill three seats: <br /> • Diane Belknap <br /> • Robert Benedetto <br /> • Stephanie Boicelli <br /> • Fara Presto Chan <br /> • Andrew C. Herkovic <br /> • Wendy Hoffman <br /> • Kathy Jung <br /> • Francisco Alfredo Lopez <br /> • Alexander Schernig* <br /> • Barbara Valley <br /> *Incumbent <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> None. <br />
