A. Recognition of Pina Truscelli - Jeff Ira, Mayor. Mayor Ira presented a certificate to Pina Truscelli in absentia. Vince Truscelli, her husband was present and also received flowers and a token of appreciation for her exemplary years of service in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. All Council Members expressed their thanks to Mrs. Truscelli for her dedication to this community. Each Council Member reminisced on a particular memory when they worked with Pina. Chris Beth, Parks Recreation and Community Services Director, explained that the Truscelli's have given an incredible amount of time in serving the community and in particular to the Senior Center. B. Swearing in Ceremony - Five appointed and reappointed Parks, Recreation, Community Services Commissioners will be sworn in by City Clerk Silvia Vonderlinden. City Clerk Vonderlinden swore in five members of the Parks and Recreation Commission. 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR Angelica Nava and Valeria Lorenzo said they are recent graduates of Sequoia High School. On behalf of the Immigrant Youth Action Team and Redwood City 2020 Community Youth Development Initiative, they extended an invitation, in English and in Spanish, to the "Making Dreams Come True" Event on October 29, 2010 at Sequoia High School to help youth pursue further education. Janet Lawson spoke in favor of the installation of stop signs at the intersection of Palm Avenue and Oxford Street. She thanked staff and neighbors who signed a petition in favor of the stop signs. M/S Gee/Pierce to approve the Consent Calendar. Council Member Pierce spoke about the stop sign on Palm at Oxford Street. Vice Mayor Aguirre thanked staff for the state of emergency due to the ruptured sewer main and she wanted to make this fact publicly known. Council Member Gee thanked the staff and the other cities that offered support. He noted that Mr. Smith's Code Red messages were instrumental and very helpful. Motion carries unanimously by electronic vote. 6.1 Section — Motions A. 2009-2010 Utility Trench Repair Project. (304) Minute Order 10-186 Recommendation: 1. Accept by motion the partially completed improvements constructed during the 2009-2010 Utility Trench Repair Project, from Guerra Construction Group, Inc., San Jose, CA and release the retention in the amount of $7,380.33 withheld during construction in accordance with City procedure. 2. Terminate the contract with Guerra Construction Group, Inc. for convenience in accordance with Section 7.12 of the agreement.
