While <br />expressing appreciation for the improvements included in the new proposal, <br />however, the League plans to urge legislators to pass legislation authorizing a <br />ballot measure to strengthen constitutional protections for local revenues, sup- <br />ported overwhelmingly by members of the League at a special General Assembly <br />meeting held May 15. The coalition <br />now counts more than 350 member organizations, including police, fire, <br />labor, senior groups, businesses, chambers of commerce and other organi- <br />zations, along with the LOCAL sponsoring agencies: the League, the Califor- <br />nia State Association of Counties (CSAC) and the California Special Districts <br />Association (CSDA).
