T�• 411 (*+' G : y e : 4/11/60 - 7 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 30+0 <br /> RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE FATAL ATTACK ON VERY FORE <br /> - EREAS, in the brutal assault of three Redwood City residents <br /> by two men on larch 28, 1960, Vern Fore was fatally beaten; and <br /> .AREAS, this Council is deeply shocked by the realization <br /> that conditions could exist in this City which would permit a <br /> deplorable incident of this nature to occur; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the attackers, Edward 2.11an, also known as <br /> Edward Avery, was a parolee of the State of Washington Board of <br /> Prison Terms and Paroles and was being supervised in this State <br /> by the California Adult Authority; and <br /> WHEREAS, EAS, the tragedy which has struck the Fore family and <br /> left the Fore children fatherless appears to be all the more tragic <br /> in that it may have been averted by closer supervision of one of <br /> the assailants by the responsible parole authorities; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIi. OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AS 7 OLLO,''S: <br /> 1. That this Council officially deplores the existence of a <br /> situation and condition which could give rise to the attack on <br /> Vern _'ore and intends to take all steps within its power to pro- <br /> hibit the reoccurence of any such incidents. <br /> 2. That this Council requests the State of Washington to <br /> review its parole policies and in particular to consider the <br /> problem of giving adequate notice and supervision to parolees <br /> permitted to reside in other states. <br /> 3. That this Council expresses grave concern regarding the <br /> adequacy of supervision given by the California_ authorities to <br /> parolees referred to said authorities from other states. <br />
