' REG:yc:4 /5/60 -7 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 3 �9 <br /> RESOLUTION COTNENDING HEROIC ACTION OF ALFRED HUND, <br /> ALFRED BECKETTI AND ALFRED SMITH OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, in the course of the tragic fire which struck the <br /> home of Mr. and Mrs. David Fields in the morning of March 26, 1960, <br /> Captain Alfred Hund and Firemen Alfred Becketti and Alfred Smith <br /> of the Redwood City Fire Department displayed rare courage and <br /> heroism in rescuing Michael Fields, aged three, and Beverly Fields, <br /> aged two; and <br /> WHEREAS, except for the prompt action of these firemen in <br /> entering the blazing home by squeezing through a narrow window <br /> after all efforts to reach the children had failed, Michael and <br /> Beverly would have perished; and <br /> WHEREAS, the bravery exhibited by these firemen in the face <br /> of intense flames is deserving of recognition by this Council; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The Council of the City of Redwood City takes this op- <br /> portunity to commend Captain Alfred Hund, fireman Alfred Becketti <br /> and Fireman Alfred Smith for their heroic actions on the morning <br /> of March 26, 1960, in rescuing Michael and Beverly Fields from <br /> their blazing home. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby author- <br /> ized and directed to forward copies of this resolution to each of <br /> the above firemen. <br />
