Status Report on the Automated Red Light Photo Enforcement System. <br /> (304) (Recommendations 1 and 2) Minute Order 10-204 <br /> Recommendation: <br /> By motion: <br /> 1. Accept the Police Chief's status report and have staff look at additional intersections <br /> for possible implementation; <br /> 2. Direct the Police Chief to continue the Automated Red Light Photo <br /> Enforcement System contract to run unaltered through its termination in <br /> March 2013; <br /> Sgt. Osbourne presented an overview of this enforcement mechanism to the City <br /> Council (presentation on file). He provided details on the intersections that have the <br /> automated system. <br /> Mayor Ira joined the Council. <br /> Council asked questions about collisions and staff clarified that the number of citations <br /> has gone down and this seems an inference of the benefit of the red light control <br /> equipment. One Council Member explained that if this is to be continued it is for safety <br /> reasons and not because this is a revenue generator. Sgt.
