6.2A <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> November 22, 2010 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance — Red Morton Barbeque Area Shade Structure Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Accept, by motion, the Red Morton Barbeque Area Shade Structure Project and <br /> authorize the release of bonds and retention according to city procedures. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On February 8, 2010, Council awarded the construction contract for the Red Morton <br /> Barbeque Area Shade Structure Project to McNabb Construction, Inc. of Lafayette for <br /> the amount of $162,400.00. The project consisted of replacing the covered aluminum <br /> picnic area with a new fabric shade cover, installing new barbeques and picnic tables, <br /> and other improvements. <br /> Notice to Proceed was issued on May 1, 2010 and substantial completion was achieved <br /> on October 1, 2010. The project schedule was extended from three to five months due <br /> to the lead time to fabricate the shade structure. Two (2) change orders were issued <br /> resulting in a net credit of $7,299.10. A credit was issued to reflect the lower cost of the <br /> shade structure selected and there was an additional cost for concrete paving that had <br /> not been anticipated. The final contract amount is $155,100.90 and 4.5°!0 less than the <br /> contract amount initially awarded.
