ATTACNAE', a_,_„
Office of the City Clerk 1017 MiddleHeld Road
Redwood Ciry, Califomfa 94063
Telephone (650) 780•7220
 FAX (650) 261-9102
C QeOronde

October 11, 2010
Subject: Follow-up to Your Appeal
Dear Mr. Warsowe,
I
The Zoning Administrator filed a Notice of Officiai Action on September 21, 2010 issuing
an architectural permit for 448 Saint Francis Street to allow for the demo(itlon of an
existing single-family residehce and construct a new single family residence subject to
the conditions noted. You filed an appeal on September 24, 2010. The appeal is
scheduled to be heard by the Ciiy Council on Monday, November 22, 2010.
Pursuant to Article 48 of the Redwood City Zoning Code, appeals must be made in
writing and filed with the City Clerk within seven (7) days of the final decision of the
official whose action is being appealed. A specific requirement of the Code is that, °the
appeal shall state the arounds upon which the appeal is made and shall be
accompanied bv anv suaportinq information the appellant wishes considered during the
appeal"
Your appeal was filed timefy. Nonetheless, the appeal is deficient in two ways. First, you
failed to identify any grounds upon which your appeaf is based and second, you did not
attach any documentation. Instead, you indicated that "as to the grounds for the appeal,
I refer you to my various e-mails, to the Planning Department regarding 448 St. Francis
and incorporate these by reference."
It is not for the City to guess the reasons you believe an appeal is warranted and to
guess at the evidence on which you intend to rely. Non-compliance with the
requirements of the code could have resulted in the City's rejection of your appeal.
However, as I discussed with you, the Ciiy is giving you until 5pm on Friday, October
22, 2010, to correct these deficiencies. Please be advised that should you fail to identify
the specific grounds for your appeal by this date, the hearing body will have nothing to
decide. Should you fail to provide the documentation upon which your appeal rests by
this date, none will be entered into the record or considered by the hearing bady.
In addition, you asked for the project file including email communications. As indicated
to you by phone on Friday by Charles Jany, responsive non-privileged records are in my
office awaiting your review. Please be kind enough tc make an appointment to review
such documents at no charge. If you prefer copies, you will be charged for the
documents you designate for copying (75 cents for the first page and 35 cents for
additional pages — double-sided counts only as one page).
1
