- <br /> 6.1 F <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> November 22, 2010 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Amendment to Crossing Guard Service Contract <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By Motion, approve an addendum to the Crossing Guard Services Contract with All City <br /> Management for fiscal year 2010-2011, adding services for the newly opened Redwood <br /> Shores Elementary School. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The City has contracted with Afl City Management Services to provide crossing guard <br /> services at eighteen school crossing guard posts within Redwood City. The current cost <br /> to provide these services is $198,723 for fiscal year 2010-2011. Due to the opening of <br /> the new elementary school in Redwood Shores, a nineteenth post was created and is in <br /> need of staffing. This post was not included in the original contract, which was <br /> previously extended for fiscal year 2010-2011. <br /> The City has contracted with AU City Management Services since fiscal year 1999-2000 <br /> and has renewed the contract each year since its inception. All City Management <br /> Services maintains on-call employees to fill vacancies as needed, provides training, <br /> equipment, and supenrision for its employees and provides liability coverage. All City <br /> Management Services remains the only private vendor in our area that provides <br /> crossing guard services. <br /> � ALTERNATIVES <br /> Decline to amend the contract and do not provide crossing guard services for Redwood <br /> Shores Elementary School. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> The contract amendment will compensate All City Management Services at a rate of <br /> $14.31 per hour for three hours per school day, for a total increase of $7,727.00 in the <br /> contract price. The Police Department will request a supplemental appropriation to the <br /> fiscal year 2010-2011 budget to cover the additional costs associated with crossing <br /> guard services.
