'- a •JC:ek:1O/259-7 <br /> RE S OLUTI ON NO. 2889 <br /> RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE POSITION OF THE LEAGUE OF <br /> CALIFORNIA CITIES IN OPPOSITION TO A.B. 607 RELATING <br /> TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING BY PUBLIC EMPLOYEES <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City has reviewed <br /> the provisions of the proposed Assembly Bill No. 607, providing for <br /> collective bargaining by public employees and compulsory arbitration <br /> regarding wages, salaries, hours, and working conditions of public <br /> employees; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City is of the <br /> opinion that such proposed legislation would be adverse and detri- <br /> mental to the general welfare and public interest of the citizens <br /> of Redwood City; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City has been <br /> advised that the League of California Cities will present a state- <br /> ment in opposition to such legislation at a meeting to be held <br /> thereon by the Assembly Interim Committee on Industrial Relations <br /> on November 19th and 20th, 1959; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City desires to <br /> express its approval and support of such statement in opposition <br /> to be presented by the League of California Cities; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. That the proposed State legislation designated Assembly <br /> Bill No. 607, introduced in the California Legislature at the 1959 <br /> regular session, which Assembly bill provides for collective bar- <br /> gaining and arbitration in connection with public employees, is <br /> adverse and detrimental to the general welfare and public interest <br /> of the citizens of the City of Redwood City, and that the Council <br /> of the City of Redwood City does hereby disapprove such legislation. <br /> 2. That the Council of the City of Redwood City does hereby <br /> approve and support the position of the League of California Cities <br /> I __ <br />
