ORIGINAL <br /> FUNDING AGREEMENT <br /> BETWEEN <br /> THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AND <br /> KAISER FOUNDATION HOSPITALS <br /> This Agreement entered this ,Veday ofDete by and between the <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a chartered municipal corporation, hereinafter called "City" <br /> and KAISER FOUNDATION HOSPITALS, a California non - profit public- benefit <br /> corporation, hereinafter called "Kaiser." <br /> RECITALS <br /> WHEREAS, on August 25, 2003, the City Council certified the Environmental <br /> Impact Report for the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center Master Plan, <br /> including an Addendum ( "Kaiser Master Plan ") and approved the Kaiser Master Plan; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, on July 26, 2010, the City Council adopted the Second Addendum <br /> to the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center Final Environmental Impact <br /> Report; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to ensure a sufficient water supply to meet projected future <br /> demands of the Kaiser Master Plan and Higher Occupancy Scenario, the mitigation <br /> measure adopted requires Kaiser to obtain non - potable water supply through the City's <br /> Recycled Water Program and contribute its fair share to the cost of implementation of <br /> the recycled water system (mitigation measure UT -1.1); and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to ensure effective water distribution and an adequate <br /> emergency storage system, the mitigation measure adopted requires Kaiser to build a <br /> new water tank and pump station (UT -2.2); and <br /> WHEREAS, Kaiser agrees to participate in the City's Recycled Water Program <br /> by connecting to the recycled water system and using non - potable water for <br /> landscaping and other industrial uses and contributing its fair share to the cost of <br /> implementation of the recycled water system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has calculated Kaiser's fair share, proportionate cost of <br /> constructing the recycled water pipeline extension to be $1,005,750.00, and Kaiser is <br /> ready and willing to contribute that amount to the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has proposed that as an alternative to Kaiser constructing <br /> an on -site water tank and pump station solely for Kaiser use, construction of a <br /> significantly larger water tank off site as an emergency water storage solution to serve <br /> ATTY /AGR/2010.089 1 <br /> 111010 <br />
