I
7.A
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the Ci Mana er
January 24, 2011
SUBJECT
Results of 2010 Neighborhood Survey
RECOMMENDATION
This report is for informational purposes only. There is no staff recommendation.
BACKGROUND
The City of Redwood City hired Godbe Research (Godbe) to conduct the fifth biennial
neighborhood services sunrey. The questions for this year's neighborhood
services/satisfaction survey were developed by Godbe and City staff, using prior year
surveys as a basis, allowing staff to compare results from prior years. Godbe conducted
an 18-minute survey with 400 randomly selected Redwood City residents during the
month of November 2010.
Godbe Research staff will be making the presentation to Council regarding the results of
the survey. Please see Executive Summary for complete results.
Now that the survey is complete, the City will make the results of this survey widely
available to the community and staff. This information will be used by staff and Council
in budget and service delivery discussions, and improve communications by providing
information on residents' preferred sources and methods on receiving information of the
City. With this information, we can better utilize limited resources by focusing
communications through those preferred sources/methods.
ALTERNATIVES
Not applicable as there is no recommendation associated with this report.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no fiscal impacts related to the results of the survey. The cost of conducting
the survey was included in the 2010/2011 fiscal year budget.

 /- - -
Mag A. Gonzlez Robert B.
