01/24/2011 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15084 <br /> RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT, BECAUSE OF LOCAL <br /> CONDITIONS, THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, WELFARE, AND <br /> NECESSITY, REQUIRE THE AMENDING OF ARTICLES II AND IX; AND THE <br /> ADDITION OF ARTICLES IV, VI, VII, AND VIII OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING BUILDING <br /> CODES <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City proposes to enact an <br /> ordinance amending Articles II and IX and adding Articles IV, VI, VII, and VIII to Chapter <br /> 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code, consisting of Building Codes, Mechanical Code, <br /> Plumbing Code, Electrical Code, Seismic Requirements, ( "the Ordinance "); and <br /> WHEREAS, California Health and Safety Code Sections 18938 and 17958 <br /> provide that the California Building Standards Code establishes building standards for <br /> certain occupancies throughout the State; and <br /> WHEREAS, Sections 17958.5 and 17958.7 of the California Health and Safety <br /> Code enable a city to make changes and modifications to the California Building <br /> Standards, where the governing body makes express findings that such changes are <br /> reasonably necessary because of local climatic, geological or topographical conditions; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, in connection therewith, the Ordinance will result in certain <br /> modifications and changes to the substantive provisions of the California Building <br /> Standards, which changes or modifications are reasonably necessary due to local <br /> conditions (the "Local Amendments "); and <br /> WHEREAS, this action is categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section <br /> 15308 of the California Code of Regulations ( "CEQA Guidelines "), which exempts <br /> actions taken by regulatory agencies for enhancement or protection of the environment <br /> and the proposed regulations are intended to protect and enhance the environment by <br /> encouraging the construction of buildings in a more environmentally - friendly manner. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> ATTY /RESO /RESO.2076 Reso. # 15084 <br /> 112910 Muff # 305 <br /> 1 <br />
