02/07/2011 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15091 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RESTRUCTURING OF THE CITY <br /> ATTORNEY'S DEPARTMENT AND AMENDING THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY'S CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO ESTABLISH THE POSITION OF <br /> DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY <br /> WHEREAS, the needs of the City Attorney's Department have evolved and an <br /> evaluation of the department's delivery of legal services has been completed; and <br /> WHEREAS, based on the analysis, it was determined that it would be <br /> appropriate to restructure the department, including the elimination of the contract <br /> attorney, reduction of an Administrative Assistant from full time to half -time when current <br /> efforts to locate internal or external shared services arrangements are completed, and <br /> the creation of a new classification of Deputy City Attorney; and <br /> WHEREAS, the new classification of Deputy City Attorney was prepared by <br /> Human Resources and the City Attorney to ensure it meets the foreseeable needs of <br /> the organization; <br /> WHEREAS, it was determined that the Deputy City Attorney classification would , <br /> be established with a pay range of $7388 -$9676 per month, and benefits shall be as <br /> provided for in the Redwood City Summary of Benefits for Executive Management, <br /> except that in lieu hours shall be established at the level of 80 hours per year; and <br /> further that if those in the executive group reduce the number of in -lieu hours, the in -lieu <br /> hours shall be reduced for the Deputy City Attorney position by like amount; and <br /> WHEREAS, the position of Assistant City Attorney is currently occupied, but any <br /> future recruitment would continue to provide benefits as established in the Redwood <br /> City Summary of Benefits for Executive Management, except that in lieu hours shall be <br /> S:ATTY /RES0.2098 RESTRUCTURING OF THE CITY ATTORNEY'S DEPT.
