03/24/03 <br />O R I G I N A L <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14518 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION FOR <br />FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,103,707.00 FROM THE STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA READING AND LITERACY IMPROVEMENT AND PUBLIC <br />LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION BOND ACT OF 2000 <br />AND CERTIFYING THE REDWOOD SHORES COMMUNITY LIBRARY <br />PROJECT BUDGET, LOCAL FUNDING COMMITMENT, <br />SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDS AND PUBLIC LIBRARY OPERATION AND <br />APPROVING THE COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS WITH THE <br />BELMONT /REDWOOD SHORES SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE <br />SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, the Title 5 Library Bond Act Regulations require the City Council to <br />adopt a resolution certifying the project budget, local funding commitment, supplemental <br />funds, and public library operations; and <br />WHEREAS, on March 10, 2003, the City Council approved a motion of intent to <br />adopt a Resolution of Intent to, among other things certify the library project budget, <br />demonstrate a local funding commitment, provide supplemental funds, and provide for a <br />public library operation, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is seeking funding from the California Reading and <br />Literacy Improvement and Public Library Construction and Renovation Bond Act of <br />2000, in the amount of $10,103,707.00, for the construction of the Redwood Shores <br />community library, and <br />WHEREAS, in order to apply for and obtain granting funding, the State of <br />California requires the City Council to adopt a resolution certifying its commitment to <br />provide local matching fund and to operate the library when built. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The City of Redwood City commits to provide the local matching funds in the amount <br />of $5,440,458.00, identified in the Library Project Budget of the Application Form, <br />which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and as required by Education <br />Code section 19995 (a). This includes amounts to be credited to local matching <br />funds pursuant to section 19995 (c) and (d), in the amount of $3,860,000.00 for the <br />value of the land and $1,131,825.00 for architectural and engineering fees. <br />2. The City of Redwood City commits to provide supplemental local funds in the <br />amount of $1,418,085.00, necessary to complete the project as stated in the Library <br />Project Budget. <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1380 <br />032003 1 <br />
