Awards: 9 Annual Peninsula Arts Council's Diamond Award Recipients: <br /> (1) San Mateo Credit Union — Redwood City <br /> (2) Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br /> Department: Chris Beth and Lucas Wilder will be present to <br /> share their awards. <br /> Mayor Ira recognized the two recipients of these awards, they were Chris Beth and <br /> Lucas Wilder. Mr. Beth gave credit to the Civic Cultural Commission, Redevelopment <br /> Agency staff, Parks and Recreation and Community Services and the Police <br /> Department staff for all they do to give downtown the designation of a "destination <br /> place ". Jordan Freeman, Malcolm Smith and Lucas Wilder were also recognized for <br /> their hard work. Mr. Beth added that for the coming year the focus will continue to be <br /> on partnerships and sponsorships. <br /> Mayor Ira and Vice Mayor Aguirre thanked Mr. Beth and Mr. Wilder for their team spirit <br /> and all that they do to give Redwood City a great name. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Gwenythe J. Scove, with time donated by Peggy Bruggman, said she wanted to <br /> respond to Mayor Jeff Ira's comments on the Bay Conservation and Development <br /> Commission (BCDC) position on the Bay Area Climate Change Plan. She supports <br /> BCDC's Plan and she sees value in it. <br /> Frank Morton made comments about economic development and noted that there is a <br /> new blog "e- patch" in Redwood City. He referred to certain comments that he read on <br /> this blog and inquired if these were comments indeed made by Council Members. <br /> Emily Lam, representing the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, invited the Council to a <br /> trip to Washington to lobby on behalf of quality of life and economic issues. Nancy Noe <br /> the co -chair provided additional information on the upcoming trip and the goals of such <br /> trip. She invited those interested in finding more on the website www.svlq.orq. <br /> One Council Member thanked the Silicon Valley Leadership Group for its <br /> competitiveness. <br /> Council Member Foust pulled agenda item 6.1E because she will have to recuse herself <br /> due to a potential conflict of interest. <br /> M/S Gee/Aguirre to approve the Consent Calendar excluding item 6.1 E. Motion carried <br /> 6 -0 by electronic vote with Council Member Pierce absent. <br /> Council Member Foust left the dais and the Council Chambers. <br /> M/S Seybert/Aguirre to approve Consent Calendar item 6.1E.
