A0.14-11
Legislative Bill Action
evaluating AB 514 as it moves along. Staff:
Yvonne Hunter, Status: AsmFlr, Position: Review
and Comment.
SB 20 (Sher). E- Waste. In its current form,
SB 20 would give manufacturers of computer
monitors, televisions and other electronic equip-
ment that is determined to be a "hazardous
waste" the option of providing collection and
recycling services for their products, or paying a
fee to cover the cost to recycle the material. Local
governments would be eligible to receive grants to
fund the collection and recycling e- waste. SB 20
is pending in the Assembly where it has not yet
been assigned to a committee. Staff: Yvonne
Hunter, Status: AsmFIr, Position: Support.
ACA 10 (Harman). Storm Water Fees.
Proposition 218. ACA 10 has been placed on the
Assembly inactive file — hopefully temporarily —
while the author and supporters seek additional
Republican member votes. ACA 10 would add
storm water fees to the existing types of fees that
do not require voter approval under Proposition
218. It is needed to help cities and counties fund
programs to comply with new storm water permit
requirements. Since it is a Constitutional Amend-
ment which would go before the voters in 2004,
ACA 10 does not have to meet the legislative
timelines and deadlines of regular bills.
Cities who are represented by Republican
Assembly Members are encouraged to contact
their Assembly Members and talk to them about
ACA10 and urge their support of the measure.
Please share with the League's Sacramento office
any responses you receive that indicate support
for the measure.
