PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 TRENCHING, BACKFILL AND SHORING <br /> A. Trenching shall conform to Section 02202 of these Specifications. <br /> B. Depth of trenches for conduit or conductors in areas to be covered by street paving shall be such as to <br /> provide thirty (30) inches of cover for conduits or conductors. Trench depth under sidewalks shall be <br /> such as to provide eighteen (18) inches of cover over the conduit or conductor to the paving subgrade, or <br /> as indicated on the plans. <br /> 3.02 CONDUIT JACKING <br /> A. Placement of conduit beneath existing pavement and sidewalk may be by jacking methods when <br /> approved by the City Engineer. <br /> B. Where conduit is to be installed by jacking or drilling longitudinally along the curb line, installation shall <br /> conform to the provisions in Section 86- 2.05C, "Installation" of the Standard Specifications. <br /> C. Pavement shall not be disturbed without written permission of the City Engineer. <br /> D. Jacking pits shall be kept two (2) feet clear of the edge of any type of pavement. <br /> E. Excessive use of water, such that pavement might be undermined or subgrade softened, will not be <br /> permitted. <br /> 3.03 FOUNDATIONS <br /> A. Concrete for foundations of standards and cabinets shall be installed in conformance with section 2.01, <br /> "Portland Cement Concrete," of these specifications. <br /> B. Top of foundations for electroliers shall be (2) inches above the surrounding finish grade in unpaved <br /> areas or shall be flush with top of curb when adjacent to curbs. The top two (2) inches of foundations for <br /> street electroliers shall be placed after the electrolier is in proper position. <br /> C. Top of foundations for service pedestals shall be to the dimension or elevation shown or noted on the <br /> plans. <br /> D. Excavation for electrolier foundations shall be done with an auger to the diameter called for on the plans <br /> and the top portion of the foundation above the surrounding subgrade shall be formed. <br /> E. Foundations for electroliers adjacent to curbs shall be set to provide a minimum of twenty -four (24) inches <br /> dear from face of curb to center of electrolier mast. <br /> F. Controller cabinet foundation shall be constructed to extend 5 -1/2" above the surrounding grade, and <br /> shall be installed with a cast in ground rod. <br /> G. In unpaved areas, a four (4) inch think Portland Cement Concrete pad shall be constructed in front of <br /> cabinets. Pad dimension shall be as directed by the City Engineer. <br /> H ; - - - - The fifth paragraph in Section 86 =2:03, "Foundations," of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: ._ <br /> Cast -in- drilled hole concrete pile foundations for traffic signal and lighting standards shall conform to the <br /> provisions in Section 49, "Piling," with the added requirements that standards shall not be erected until <br /> seven days have elapsed after placing the concrete, and except that material resulting from drilled holes <br /> shall be disposed as provided in Section 86 -2.01, "Excavating and Backfilling," of the Standard <br /> Specifications. <br /> 3.04 CONDUIT <br /> A. Install conduits in the locations shown on the plans. Additional conduit not shown on the plans, but <br /> required to serve signal system shown on plans, shall be installed as directed by the City Engineer. <br /> B. After conductors have been installed, the ends of conduits terminating in controller cabinets and pull <br /> boxes shall be sealed with an approved type of sealing compound. <br /> C.
