(650) 780 -7225 <br />The City of Redwood City is requesting funds from the proposed San Mateo County Measure <br />A sales tax extension for new ferry service, as proposed by the San Francisco Bay Area Water Transit <br />Authority (WTA). <br />Redwood City is working with the WTA and the Port of Redwood City to include this regional <br />transit service as part of our Bayfront Plan to redevelop our waterfront. Additionally, we join with the <br />City of South San Francisco by submitting this complementary Measure A request that, together, will <br />provide a new commute option and significantly enhanced emergency response capabilities for San <br />Mateo County. <br />The top -line costs in our request are: <br />Capital <br />$16 million Two 149 passenger, 35 knot vessels <br />$10 million Terminal <br />$ 160,000 Landside Transit vehicles <br />Total Capital - $26.16 million <br />Operating <br />$32 million Vessel operations (16 yrs @ $2 million per year) <br />$ 6.4 million Landside transit operations (16 yrs @ $400,000 per year) <br />Total Operating - $38.4 million <br />Total Reauest - S64.56 million <br />We are prepared to follow -up this initial request with more detail as needed by the <br />Transportation Authority.
