Our estimated level of effort for this work is
included as Attachment B.
1. Island Parkwav Slab Bridee Alternative
MTCo will revise existing plans to allow contractors to bid a portion of Island Parkway
as a reinforced concrete slab bridge as an alternative to embankment construction with
MSE walls. The slab bridge will extend from approximately Station IP 71 +00 to 72 +25,
and will be entirely within City right of way to avoid Caltrans formal review process.
The 100% bridge plans and special provisions will be included with the bid documents.
The bid schedule will be revised to allow the contractors to bid the Island Parkway slab
bridge as an alternative.
The roadway plans will not be revised until after the city has determined which
alternative is selected. If the slab bridge alternative is selected, the Layout, Construction
Details, Drainage, Retaining Wall and Erosion Control plans will be revised accordingly.
It is not anticipated that the Stage Construction/Traffic Handling Plans would need to be
revised as the construction sequence should be the same for the slab bridge as the
embankment construction.
2. Preaare Sunnlemental Geotechnical Report
A foundation report for the Island Parkway slab bridge will be prepared by our
geotechnical subconsultant, Parikh Consultants, Inc as a supplement to the final
Geotechnical Design and Materials Report for the Route 101/Ralston Interchange
Modifications project. Included in this task are two cone penetrometer tests that are
required for the foundation analysis. It is anticipated that the testing can be done without
requiring temporary lane or shoulder closures, therefore we have not included a budget
for traffic control.
EXHIBIT
CUPERTINO PLEASANTON REDWOOD CITY SACRAMENTO SAUNAS SAN JOSE WALNUT CREEK
