7.2 - 8/ <br />REPORT <br />July 14, 2003 <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Subject <br />By resolution (1) approve Memorandum of Understanding with the Redwood City Police <br />Officers Association; (2) authorize proposed salary plan for the classifications represented <br />by the Redwood City Police Officers Association. <br />Recommendation <br />It is recommended that the City Council, by resolution, (1) authorize a new Memorandum of <br />Understanding with the Redwood City Police Officers Association; (2) authorize the <br />proposed salary plan for the classifications represented by the Redwood City Police <br />Officers Association. <br />Background <br />The City and the Redwood City Police Officers Association have met and conferred on all <br />matters relating to the terms and conditions of employment and have reached a tentative <br />agreement on a new Memorandum of Understanding, subject to your approval. <br />The following is a summary of the specific changes tentatively agreed to: <br />Term September 1, 2002 to August 31, 2005 (3- years) <br />Salary First year salary formula effective the first full pay period <br />beginning on or after September 1, 2002. 6.51% <br />Second vear — salary formula effective the first full pay <br />period beginning on or after September 1, 2003. <br />Third vear — salary formula effective the first full pay <br />period beginning on or after September 1, 2004 <br />Long -Term Disability Effective with the first full pay period after the adoption of <br />this MOU, the City will reimburse employees for actual <br />cost of LTD coverage to a maximum of $25.00 per month. <br />Retirement Effective with the first full pay period that includes July 1, <br />2004 — The city will contract with PERS to amend its <br />current retirement formula for Local Safety Members — <br />Police, to the 3% @ 50 formula. <br />
