04/11/2011 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15105 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN <br /> APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF WATER <br /> REOURCES TO OBTAIN INTEGRATED REGIONAL WATER <br /> MANAGEMENT STORMWATER FLOOD MANAGEMENT GRANT <br /> FUNDING <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the Bay Area Integrated Regional Water <br /> Management (IRWM) Plan on December 4, 2006; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Bay Area IRWM Plan is a multi - stakeholder, nine - county effort to <br /> coordinate a strategic approach to regional water resources management; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Bay Area IRWM Plan was developed by a diverse group of <br /> water supply, water quality, wastewater, stormwater, flood management, watershed and <br /> habitat agencies, local governments, environmental groups, business groups and other <br /> interested parties in response to the current intent of the State of California to provide <br /> grant monies only for projects that are included in an adopted integrated water <br /> management plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, on November 2006 California voters passed Proposition 1 E, the <br /> Disaster Preparedness and Flood Protection Bond Act, which provides grant funding for <br /> IRWM Stormwater Flood Management (SWFM) projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, as part of the grant application procedures, the California <br /> Department of Water Resources (DWR) requires applicants to adopt a resolution <br /> designating an authorized representative to submit the grant application and execute an <br /> agreement with the State of California for a SWFM grant; and <br /> WHEREAS, City staff has submitted the Bayfront Canal Regional Flood <br /> Protection System Improvements and Fifth Avenue Pump Station Renovation Project to <br /> be added to the Bay Area IRWM Plan and has begun preparing its application for grand <br /> funding for this Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Project is designed to mitigate flooding in the Bayfront Canal, <br /> Fifth Avenue, and Atherton Channel area. <br /> ATTY /RESO.2120 /IRWM Grant Application Reso. # 15105 <br /> 033111 MUFF # 505 <br /> 1 <br />
